Delhi-NCR Weather Update: Amid an intensifying cold wave, Delhi-NCR woke up to less polluted air and a clear sky on Sunday morning. The Friday rain led to a sharp dip in temperatures, bringing temporary relief from deteriorating pollution levels. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast shallow to moderate fog during morning hours today, January 25, with the maximum temperatures hovering around 18 to 20 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature reaching 4 to 6 degrees Celsius.
Delhi-NCR weather update: IMD issues yellow alert
The Met Department has predicted partly cloudy skies over the capital, along with shallow to moderate fog during morning hours on January 26. Thereafter, IMD has issued a yellow alert, warning of one or two spells of light rain, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds of 30 to 40 kmph, during the early hours till forenoon on January 27. Another spell of very light to light rain may lash the city in the afternoon or evening.
Skies are expected to remain generally cloudy on the 28th, 29th, and 30th, with shallow to moderate fog affecting visibility during the morning hours and adding chill in different parts of the national capital region.
Temperature forecast
Maximum temperatures across Delhi‑NCR are expected to remain between 19 and 21°C, followed by a drop of 4-6 °C on January 26. Thereafter, the maximum temperatures would rise by 1-2°C, while the minimum temperature would range between 8 to 10°C on the 27th.
AQI improves to 152
As the Friday showers reduced dust levels in the air, the Air Quality Index (AQI) improved to 152 under the ‘moderate’ category at 6 am on Sunday, January 25, 2026.
