First-ever WPL 2026 hundred by Nat Sciver-Brunt seals Mumbai Indians’ 15-run victory against RCB

Nat Sciver-Brunt etched her name into the record books on Monday, scoring the first-ever century in Women’s Premier League (WPL) history. Her unbeaten 100 led the Mumbai Indians (MI) to a 15-run win over Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in a high-stakes encounter.

A Record-Breaking Batting Display

In a game they had to win to keep their playoff hopes alive, the defending champions delivered a powerhouse performance. After losing an early wicket, Sciver-Brunt and Hayley Matthews (56) took control of the game. The duo shared a massive 131-run partnership, punishing the RCB bowlers with a constant stream of boundaries.

Sciver-Brunt reached her milestone in style, finishing with 16 fours and a six in a 57-ball masterpiece. Her efforts pushed Mumbai to a daunting total of 199 for four.

RCB’s Early Collapse and Richa’s Resistance

The chase began poorly for Bengaluru. The Mumbai bowlers, led by Matthews (3/10) and Shabnim Ismail (2/25), tore through the top order. RCB found themselves in deep trouble at 35 for five within the first six overs, making a Mumbai victory seem certain.

However, Richa Ghosh refused to go down without a fight. The young Indian star played a sensational “whirlwind” innings, scoring 90 runs off just 50 balls. Her late-game surge included hitting three consecutive sixes off Amanjot Kaur, keeping the crowd on the edge of their seats until the final overs.

Post-Match Standings

Despite Ghosh’s heroics, RCB ended their innings at 184 for nine, falling 15 runs short of the target.

The win is a massive boost for the Mumbai Indians, who now move into second place on the leaderboard. While they are currently tied on six points with the Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Giants, Mumbai’s superior Net Run Rate gives them the edge as the race for the playoffs intensifies.
