Mercedes-AMG A45 S Unveiled – Launch Set For November 19

German luxury carmaker Mercedes Benz has revealed the Mercedes-AMG A45 S hot hatchback in India. The Mercedes-AMG A45S will be launched on the 19th of November and is expected to be priced at around Rs 70-80 lakh. The Mercedes-AMG A45 S is the most powerful hatchback to ever hit the roads of India. The A45 S is powered by the most powerful production four-cylinder engine in the world today. The engine, codenamed M139 by Mercedes, is built by a single AMG engine builder as per the company’s ‘One Man, One Engine’ philosophy. The M139 engine features a two-stage fuel injection system, a first for a four-cylinder AMG engine, with piezo injectors delivering the fuel into the combustion chamber as the first stage and solenoid valves in the manifolds acting as the second stage to help increase the specific output of the engine to a whopping 208bhp per litre.
The turbocharged four-pot firecracker under the bonnet of the A45 S produces 416bhp at 6,750rpm and 500Nm of peak torque between 5,000 and 5,250rpm. The engine is paired to an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox that sends power to all four wheels via the Mercedes 4Matic all-wheel-drive system. The fiery engine under the bonnet combines with the all-wheel-drive system to slingshot the A45 S from 0-100km/h in just 3.9 seconds and onwards to a top speed of 270km/h. This will make the Mercedes-AMG A45 S the quickest and fastest production hatchback to ever hit the nation’s roads.
The Mercedes-AMG A45 S features five driving modes – Comfort, Sport, Sport +, Race and Individual. Also present is a drift mode which can be activated if you prefer to view the world through your side window.
All that power under the bonnet is brought to life by the design of the new A45 S hot hatchback. The A45 S looks like a regular A-Class that has decided to hulk out for life. When viewed from the front, instead of the regular Mercedes grille found on the normal A-Class, the A45 S sports the Panamericana grille sported by AMG models across the Mercedes range including the maniacal AMG GT Black Series coupe. Flanking the massive grille up front are the sleek headlights of the A-Class. Other changes on the front end include the sculpted bonnet and the aggressive front bumper with the extended splitter section and canards on the sides which help improve airflow to the larger air intakes.
Adding to the aggressive look of the A45 S are the flared wheel arches which host the forged 19-inch alloy wheels that are painted black and shod with wide 245/35 R19 tyres (either Michelin Pilot Sport 4S or Pirelli P-Zero Trofeo R semi-slicks for the really track-focused owners). The ventilated disc brakes – 380mm (front) and 330mm (rear) – sport red brake callipers. The rear end of the Mercedes-AMG A45 S is dominated by the spoiler mounted to the roof, the quad tailpipes (two on either side of the rear bumper) and the rear diffuser section.
Inside, the A45 S features a cabin similar to the ones found on the regular A-Class with a large slab of glass hosting dual displays for the driver’s instrument panel and infotainment system. The AMG specific centre console sports control switches for the manual transmission mode, 3-stage electronic stability program (On, Sport Handling and Off) and the AMG ride control suspension setup. Thoughts On the Mercedes-AMG A45 S The Mercedes AMG A45 S is a pocket rocket that is also expected to burn a hole through said pocket. However, the new car insane power figures and drift mode will make you forget about your worries as you blitz past most vehicles on our nation’s roads.
