Suzuki’s New Hatchback To Be Powered by CNG and Hybrid Powertrains! Could Be more Affordable Than The Celerio! News24 –

In a recent report Maruti has shared about its plans to regain about 50 % share of the Indian market back again. The slip from the previous majority as per Suzuki was due to the changing preference of users from smaller cars to more aspirational SUV’s. Being receptive of the plummeting sales of cars such as the Suzuki Alto, S-Presso as well as the Suzuki Celerio has now decided to introduce into the market a new small entry level car that would allow easy mobility to the riders.

Suzuki has shared plans of exploring and providing the new car with a host of powertrain options such as a factory fitted CNG kit and beyond that possible mild Hybrid and flex fuel powertrain. As per Suzuki this small car would be instrumental in bringing Suzuki back to the 50% market share holding.

New Maruti Entry Level Cars

As per the plans that Suzuki’s management has hatched to get at par with the competitors has been to produce and provide entry level cars to new first time buyers. Rapid development and Introduction of entry segment products that easily meet the preferences of the Entry Level Models.

This new car would be different than that of the low Cost EV that Suzuki plans to launch in India. Based on the plans that the management has shared the new Ice model is expected to arrive before FY 2031.

Reduction In Suzuki’s Over All Share

Suzuki’s overall share has reduced to 41 % primarily due to the weakness in the small car segment which used to be Suzuki’s strong hold. Suzuki considers its growth in the small car segment to be necessary to maintain its 50% share of the overall Indian Market.

Suzuki’s overall plans to ramp up the entry level car segment could include the launch of new cars that have been specifically designed to provide the new users with significant safety features at a lower price point. The safety concern with smaller cars has also been one of the reasons due to which the sales of entry level cars has dwindled overtime. Safer entry level cars at a lower price point can possibly help the segment rise back to its past highs. The Celerio has been recently given Six airbags and that has hiked up the prices of the vehicle significantly. Hence its possible that Suzuki might launch a new vehicle that could be even cheaper than the Suzuki Celerio- Suzuki has not confirmed any details but the rapid shift to small economical car production could allegedly lead to such a product.

The increased prices of Hatchbacks with 6 airbags and other safety ancillaries has over time risen north  of 8 Lakh Rs. And hence, users use easy credit schemes and rather opt for SUV’s than Hatchbacks. With the increasing road infrastructure users do need cars that can easily provide high speed driving capabilities with the seamless presence of safety features.
