India’s Motorcycle Parts Exports Soar! How The PLI Scheme Is Fueling The Growth News24 –

Motorcycle parts exports to both developed and developing economies have showcased a significant rise over time. The overall rise has been propelled by the undercurrent of enabling government schemes and initiatives such as production linked Incentive schemes. Such schemes have been able to boost domestic manufacturing and further strengthened the sector’s global presence amid the rising exports. 

The Expansion has helped India position itself as  a key supplier of Motorcycle parts and accessories to the international market. 

Export Statistics

Statistics showcase that the exports of motorcycle parts and accessories has increased sharply from $558.05 million in April- January of FY 22 To $ 709.22 million in the same period of FY 2025. This reflects an overall growth of 27.09% over the Three year period. 

Since the nation has been able to become self-reliant in the dynamic imports of similar ancillaries has dropped from$408.59 million to $371.82 million over the same period. 

With the growing international presence of the nation, manufacturers have been able to fetch key market deals in areas such as Latin America, Africa and Southeast Asia, where the demand for strong and steady durable components is pretty high. The Integration of Indian equipment into international supply chains has led the nation to the new stature of witnessing better exports. 

Export Statistics

In the year 2024 motorcycle exports stood at $741.46 million after an increase of around 13.5% from $653.30 million in FY2023. Before that the exports in 2022 amounted to $680.89 million. THe recovery in FY2024 after the low of 23 is indicative of the increasing need for Indian Bike components. 

While there have been several forces behind the profound increase, one of the main precursors of the increase would have been the PLI scheme. The PLI scheme was approved by the government on 15th September 2021, with a budgetary outlay of Rs 25,938 crore for a five year period spanning from FY-22-23 to FY26-27. The main purpose of the scheme was to maintain attractive investments and rescue the reliance on imports for fulfilling the nation’s own needs. 

Major export destinations for Motorcycle parts include Bangladesh, Germany, The US, Uk, Indonesia , The Uae, Brazil, Turkey, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Italy, Egypt, Columbia, Congo , Guinea, Vietnam and China.
