Automobile exports from India showcased a new high with19% growth to over 5.3 million units in the last 2024-25 fiscal year. The trend was driven by robust demand for passenger vehicles, two wheelers and commercial vehicles in the overseas market.
Previous numbers reported that in the last fiscal year the exports stood at 5.4 million units as compared with 4.5 million units in the 2023-24 fiscal year that ended on March 31, 2024. As per the reported numbers by SIAM passenger vehicle shipments rose by 15% to 770,364 units last fiscal as against 372,105 units on FY 24.
The Segment has showcased its best yearly performance in the last fiscal driven by demand for global models being manufactured in India as reported by SIAM. With the overall improvement in quality some companies have also commenced exporting to developed markets as well.
Sectoral Inputs
Utility vehicle dispatches led the dynamic to new highs, with dispatches around 362,160, a growth of 54% as compared to that of 234,720 units in FY24. Two Wheeler exports showcased an increase by 21% to 4,198,403 units in the last fiscal as against the 3,458,416 units in the 2023-24 fiscal.
The Constant upgradation of the existing models with new tech and new launches have led the Indian Automotive industry to increase its grasp in the two wheeler exports. Beyond Two Wheelers, exports grew by 2% in FY 2024-25 as compared to the numbers that were reported in the FY 2023-24 with the shipment of around 310,000 units. Exports of commercial vehicles stood at 23% last year fiscal at 80,986 units as compared with 65,818 units in the year.
As per SIAM key markets such as Africa and other neighboring countries have been of high importance to the developing automotive sectors of the nation.
