With the increasing demand of SUV sector in the Indian market the manufacturers have been planning to bring in new models to sustain a lead in the market. Over time the manufacturers have been planning to launch a slew of new SUV’s that would further added to the already existing expansive variety of SUV’s in the market. In a recent update, it has been revealed that Skoda, Volkswagen and MG have been planning to launch new SUV’S in the domestic market. And beyond that there are a few other vehicles that the brands have been planning to launch in the market.
Tata Sierra
Tata has been planning to to launch a new iteration of the age old moniker Sierra soon. The Sierra would be lined up above the Harrier and would give the brand the ability to further diversify the line up. The new age Sierra has been spotted testing a few times in India under heavy camouflage. Although, Tata has not detailed much about the car, but even under heavy camouflage we could spot its quintessential SUV design and a aggressive stance. The car would probably be powered with a 1.5 litre Turbo GDI Engine.
Design Of The New Vehicle
The final design showcases the Sierra to be a Four Door SUV vehicle which has quite a resemblance with that of a Range Rover Evoque devoid of a slanting roof line. The slanting in roof line is often despised by manufacturers as it reduces the head room for the rear passengers.
New Design features a completely new front fascia as well as thicker A and B pillars for over all safety. Including a vast greenroom like that of the Sierra in a new model that has to conform to the safety regulations would have been a massive challenge for the engineers but Tata seems to have managed it pretty well.
Volkswagen Tayron
The Tayron would be a successor to the Tugian All Space. Under the hood the Tayron would possibly use the same 2 Litre Turbo Petrol engine as the Tiguan R line and the new Skoda Kodaiq. The engine develops 204Hp and 320Nm of torque. Beyond that it has been paired with a 7-speed DCT gearbox that sends power to all four wheels. Volkswagen is planning to launch the Tayron later in India this year. As per a report by Autocar the Tayron would be brought as a CKD ( Completely Knocked Down Unit) and would be assembled at Volkswagen Aurangabad plant. The Tayron would go against the likes of Jeep Meridian, Toyota Fortuner and Citroen C5 Aircross

MG Majestor
MG would soon be launching a new competitor in the SUV segment essentially a facelifted variant of the Gloster, The car would compete against the likes of Toyota Fortuner and separately the Legendar. The new Majestor would have split headlamps a larger more aggressive radiator grille with a cross bar design as well as refreshed new front bumpers as well as rear bumpers. The car is expected to give a more premium feel with a revised dashboard and a 12.3Inch digital instrument cluster and a freestanding 12.3 Inch touchscreen infotainment system. Its possible that the car would be priced around Rs INR 43 Lakh.
