Suzuki To Launch A New 5 Seater SUV! 7 Seater SUV Plans Shelved? New Sonet Competitor In the Making? News24 –

Maruti Suzuki had previously reported their formidable plans to bring in a slew of new Hybrid vehicles and ICE variants in their line-Up. A set of test mules spottings as well as reports had alleged that the brand is working towards introducing a new 7 seater akin to the Carens Clavis, however a recent slew of the reports have also indicated towards the production of a new 5 seater SUV that would be named the Escudo, and might even replace the prospective 7 seater that we were all expecting.

Suzuki Escudo The New 5 Seater SUV?

As per a report published by Autocar India the new 5 star SUV would be placed in between the Brezza and the Grand Vitara. Auto car has also revealed that earlier the car was being conceived as a 7 seater but now the brand is planning to launch the vehicle with 5 seats due to an overall shift in market scope and demand. With such changes would the 7 seater SUV still be a reality or not.

The report revealed that the car has been repositioned to target the high volume Mid Size SUV segment that is led by Hyundai Creta and KIA Seltos. Compared to the Grand Vitara , the upcoming SUV is expected to be much more accessible in terms of price, features, along the addition of Nexa’s premium dealerships.

Powertrain Alternatives For Maruti SUV

Autocar has revealed that the Y17 would be based on the same Global C platform as that of the standard Grand Vitara. It’s also expected to carry forward the same 104hp-1.5 liter naturally aspirated Petrol and 88 HP-CNG and 116hp-1.5 litre a Hybrid Options. The Manual and automatic gearbox options , as well as an AWD drivetrain might also be carried over from the Vitara.

Suzuki had already trademarked the name Escudo before. The Escudo would be one of the two SUVS that would be scheduled for launch in 2025. The car could add another possible choice in the line up allowing users to choose the 5 seater SUV if they do not want to opt for the Grand Vitara. As expected. Suzuki would possibly undercut the prices of Creta and Seltos with the new SUV to ensure a further demand rise in the segment. If priced right the car could be a Veritable competitor for the KIA Sonet as well as the Seltos. Although the brand has not confirmed any of the details yet, it’s possible that the details might change before the final launch.
