Tata Safari Petrol Variant Spotted Testing! Is Tata Developing An All New Petrol Engine? News24 –


Tata Motors Safari has been  the go to choice for many over the years but over time the car has started appearing dated compared to its competitors in the D segment. Tata witnessing the faltering interest in the moniker, Tata has sought to refresh the line up with a new Petrol powertrain. Until now the Harrier as well as the Safari were available with a sole 2.0 l Diesel engine that was sourced from stellantis. 

A recent spy shot has revealed that Tata might be testing a new 1.5L T GDI Turbo Petrol Engine. The camouflaged test mule carrying the engine was spotted recently. The emergence of petrol variants would help Tata to price its SUV’S much more aggressively helping them compete closely with their competitors. 

Tata Harrier Petrol Spotted Testing

Media reports have revealed that the petrol powertrain is still under development and would be launched soon, probably under the hood of the Tata Sierra. The new petrol engine would power the new Safari, Harrier as well as the all new Sierra EV. The new petrol engine would be a 4 Cylinder, 1.5 Turbo petrol engine with direct gasoline injection technology expected to take the power output to 170Ps of peak power, with a peak torque of 2780Nm. Performance figures would be quite healthy for the al new Mahindra 2.0L  Turbo Petrol Engine is rated at. 

A More Powerful Diesel Engine 

Recently, Tata Motors acquired the development rights to an all new 2.0L Turbo Diesel Engine, and there are speculations of an all new 180 Bhp tune with a 40Nm peak Torque. While Tata has to confirm any details regarding the development of a new engine. Tata is going to add mechanical updates to the petrol powered version to the Safari.
