PM Modi Launches Maruti Suzuki’s First Electric Car, Battery Manufacturing Plant In Ahmedabad News24 –
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be visiting the Suzuki Motor Plant in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, on Tuesday to inaugurate the localized production of hybrid battery electrodes and flag off exports of Maruti Suzuki’s first global battery electric vehicle, the e-Vitara, to more than 100 countries.
In a post, Prime Minister Modi said:
“Today is a special day in India’s quest for self-reliance and becoming a hub for green mobility. At the programme in Hansalpur, the e-Vitara will be flagged off. This Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) is made in India and will be exported to over a hundred nations. In a big boost to our battery ecosystem, production of hybrid battery electrodes will also commence at a plant in Gujarat.”

The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) also released a statement:
“On 26th August, at around 10:30 a.m., the Prime Minister will inaugurate localized production of hybrid battery electrodes and flag off battery electric vehicle exports to 100 countries at Hansalpur, Ahmedabad. He will also address the gathering on the occasion.”

the e-VITARA was unveiled on the Indian shores for the first time in January 2025 at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo. With an annual production capacity of 2.6 million units across four Indian plants, the company exported over 3.32 lakh vehicles and sold 19.01 lakh units in the domestic market in FY25 only, beyond the e-Vitara Suzuki Friinx, Jimny and few others have gained profound prominence in the International lmarkets. Commercial production of the e-VITARA will be flagged of today at the Hansalpur facility.
With this milestone, India will serve as Suzuki’s global manufacturing hub for electric vehicles. These initiatives align with the government’s broader vision of positioning India as a global hub for electric mobility, advanced manufacturing, and infrastructure development.
