The XUV700 has been a significant vehicle for Mahindra, helping the brand foray into the D-segment SUV space. The SUV has been ahead of its time and stands as an exemplar of Mahindra’s focus on innovation. Now, the brand is on the verge of updating the SUV for the first time since its launch.
While no concrete timeline has been revealed for the facelift’s launch, close-up spy shots give us a glimpse into the design details of this upcoming D-segment SUV.
Here’s What the Test Mule Revealed
The vehicle was camouflaged from front to rear. The test mule is not the XEV 7e but rather an update for the XUV700 facelift, as suggested by its open front grille. The car features flush pop-out door handles, and the side body cladding will also be refreshed with this update. The rear taillights were camouflaged, though earlier spy shots indicated that most styling elements would remain similar to the current model.
On the inside, the XUV700 facelift will adopt a triple-screen dashboard layout, similar to the one seen on the XEV 9e and the upcoming XEV 7e.
With this facelift, Mahindra is expected to replace the Sony audio system with a Harman Kardon setup, likely featuring 16 speakers and a 1400W peak output. The SUV also appears to share its new steering wheel with the XEV 9e and will finally gain an auto-dimming IRVM. In addition, it may feature an upgraded ADAS Level 2+ suite, complete with self-parking capabilities.
Mahindra is likely to retain the same 2.0L turbo-petrol and 2.2L turbo-diesel engine options as the current model, paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. Optional AWD and a choice of two-row or three-row seating layouts may also be offered.
The XUV700 facelift will continue to compete with rivals such as the Tata Harrier, Tata Safari, MG Hector, and Hector Plus.
