Maruti Suzuki’s New Escudo/Victoris SUV Tipped To Launch With Petrol, CNG, And Hybrid Powertrains News24 –

Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch a brand-new SUV for the Indian market on September 3. The new model will go up against popular rivals such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, and Volkswagen Taigun in the compact SUV segment. Internally, the SUV will be positioned between the Brezza and the Grand Vitara (GV) models. With anticipation running high, here are a few updates we expect the car to feature.

Likely to be based on Suzuki’s Global C platform, which also underpins the Grand Vitara, the SUV’s dimensions, per video reports-will be similar to those of the GV. To ensure the car looks sharp against its competitors, the Escudo has been spotted with all-new DRL headlamps and headlights. Other spy shots revealed a split DRL + headlamp configuration along with a high-set hoodline, expected to give it a strong road presence.

Possible Engine Options

To meet diverse customer needs, Suzuki is expected to offer the SUV with multiple engine choices. The K15C 1.5-litre mild-hybrid engine will likely make an appearance at launch. This tried-and-tested engine already powers popular models such as the Grand Vitara, XL6, Brezza, and Ertiga. While details aren’t confirmed, Suzuki might tune it differently for this SUV, with an expected output of around 101hp and 137 NM of torque.

For buyers preferring alternative fuel, a CNG powertrain will also be on offer, delivering up to 86hp and 121.5Nm of torque.

1.5-litre Strong Hybrid Electric

Maruti Suzuki also has the GV’s 1.5-litre strong hybrid electric powertrain in its arsenal, though it’s still too early to confirm if the new SUV will get this option. Since the model will be positioned below the Grand Vitara, a hybrid version remains uncertain. Beyond engines, the SUV is expected to come with a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gearbox in its petrol-only version. If a hybrid variant is launched, it may feature an eCVT automatic transmission.

Safety and Features

Given the tough competition, Suzuki is likely to equip the SUV with Level 2 ADAS safety features in top-end trims. It may also come with six airbags as standard, along with a suite of active safety functions such as ABS, EBD, and ESC.

On the features front, the upcoming SUV is expected to pack premium highlights like digital displays, a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera, wireless charging and connectivity, and ventilated front seats to enhance its appeal.
