Yamaha has announced new prices across its portfolio in response to the revised GST 2.0 tax slabs recently introduced by the Indian Government. The biggest price cut comes on the R15 moniker, which could see a reduction of up to Rs 17,581. Alongside the R15, Yamaha has also announced price cuts for all of its motorcycles and scooters currently on sale in India.
Yamaha R3 and MT-03 Get Rs 30,000 Price Cut
The R3 and MT-03 are the only models in Yamaha’s Indian lineup that are brought in via the CBU (Completely Built Unit) import route. Neither bike has been a top performer in terms of sales, and considering the lukewarm response from enthusiasts, Yamaha is now looking add significant discounts to the bikes since both of them fall under the 350cc engine size.
According to a report by Autocar, Yamaha is addressing the pricing concern by offering a flat Rs 30,000 discount on both the R3 and the MT-03. This brings the ex-showroom prices down to Rs 3.2 lakh for the MT-03 and Rs 3.3 lakh for the R3.
Both bikes are powered by the same 321cc parallel twin-cylinder DOHC liquid-cooled engine, delivering up to 42 hp of peak power and 29.5 Nm of torque. They come paired with a 6-speed gearbox. Thanks to their displacement, Yamaha finds itself in a relatively advantageous position, especially as prices for most rival bikes have recently gone up.
However, Yamaha has yet to bring the latest versions of both these models to its Blue Square dealerships, which are designated to retail the brand’s premium motorcycles in India.
