Hero MotoCorp recently announced that it will pass on the benefits of the new Goods and Services Tax (GST) reforms to its customers. With the new GST rates coming into effect on September 22, 2025, the company has reduced the prices of Hero motorcycles, including the HF Deluxe, Splendor Plus, Passion, Glamour, Super Splendor XTEC, and Xtreme range and has posted an updated rate list on its official website. Scooters like the Pleasure+, Destini 125, and Xoom series have also received a price cut. The maximum discount offered by the company is Rs 15,700 on the Karizma XMR.
The company said the move, ahead of the festive season will make the scooters and motorcycles more affordable. “With more than half of Indian households relying on two-wheelers for their daily needs, this is a timely move ahead of the festive season,” said Vikram Kasbekar, CEO, Hero MotoCorp. “By passing on the full GST benefit, we are reaffirming our commitment to empowering families, boosting consumption, and supporting India’s growth towards a $5 trillion economy,” he added.
The GST now has just two main slabs – 5% and 18%. While announcing the GST reforms earlier in September, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that several items commonly bought by the middle class now fall under the 18% tax slab. These include televisions, air-conditioners, and bikes with engines below 350 cc.
Petrol, LPG and CNG vehicles with engines under 1200cc and length below 4,000 mm, along with diesel vehicles up to 1,500cc and 4,000 mm in length, now attract 18 per cent GST instead of 28 per cent.
The finance minister said that all petrol cars over 1200cc and diesel vehicles above 1500cc have been moved to 40 per cent GST.
A 40 per cent GST has been imposed on all automobiles above 1200cc and longer than 4,000 mm, motorcycles over 350cc, racing cars, yachts and aircraft for personal use.
EVs continue to attract a 5 per cent GST, while three-wheelers will be charged at 18 per cent.
