To prevent the problem of malnourished children across the country, the Central Government launched the ‘Matrutva Vandana Yojana’ (PMMVY) on January 1, 2017. Under this scheme, financial assistance is provided to pregnant women by the government. The government provides Rs 6000 for the care of newborn children and the prevention of diseases. For this scheme, the age of pregnant women should be less than 19 years.
Rs 6000 directly to women’s account
Only women (Government Schemes for Women) get the benefit of Pradhan Mantri Matritva Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) and the amount given under it is transferred directly to the women’s account. This amount of Rs 6000 is given in instalments. The first instalment is Rs 1000, the second instalment is Rs 2000 and the third instalment is Rs 2000 is given to pregnant women. While the last instalment of Rs 1000 is provided by the government to the hospital at the time of the birth of the child.
