New Delhi: The US giant, Amazon may face mass exodus of employees as 73% of workers have expressed desired to leave the organization , revealed news daily Hindustan Times citing an anonymous survey conducted by American firm, Blind. The survey was conducted among 2,585 Amazon employees. Amazon CEO Andy Jassy had earlier announced five days work from office policy that will be implemented from January 02, 2025.
Amazon’s Work From Office Policy
Amazon’s Work From Office Policy is a significant shift from its previous hybrid work model. Employees will be required to be in the office five days a week. Albeit, the tech giant had earlier clarified that those with approved remote work permission would be eligible for work from home under some circumstances. Its not that remote work culture will completely disappear from Amazon office. If some body falls sick or his or family member gets unwell, then, they will be allowed to work from home as earlier.
Justifying the company’s new stance, Jassy had said to the workers that it was easier to learn, model, practice, and strengthen work culture by being present in office. He said being physically together also leads to enhanced collaboration and innovation in day to day work dealings.
Amazon Laid Off 27,000 Employees In The Past
Earlier, in an internal communication to employees, Jassy had signaled further trimming of company’s workforce by Q1 2025 end. He has said that the management would look to restructure organizational chart. All these steps would lead to enhanced efficiency and foster greater ownership among the employees.
Currently, the American giant follows three days work from office policy. When this was earlier announced, it had resulted in backlash from the workers. After which, the US based juggernaut had sacked 27,000 employees citing cost-cutting efforts.
Other companies have also retrenched employees in past two years or so. Some of the big names subsume Microsoft, Cisco, Google, etc.
