Stock Market: India’s benchmark stock market indices Sensex and Nifty opens in red on Friday, October 11, 2024. The 30 Sensex firms opened 132.92 points lower at 81,478.49 levels, while, the Nifty50 dipped 13.15 points to settle at 24,985.30 levels. Among the Sensex pack, stocks like Adani Ports, Tata Steel, Tata Motors, Titan, Tech Mahindra, Infosys, Axis Bank etc were among the winners. However, Bajaj Finance, TCS, Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M), Bharti Airtel, ITC and Asian Paints were among the biggest laggards. TCS shares were down 1.2% in initial trade on BSE.

The Nifty50 index on NSE too ended with a raise. Nifty50 was up 16.50 points to rise to 24,998.45 levels in Thursday trade.

Industrialist and philanthropist Ratan Tata died at the age of 86. He breathed his last in a Mumbai hospital on Wednesday. He was the chairman emeritus of one of India’s biggest conglomerates, Tata Sons. The news of Tata’s demise came as a late night shocker for the country. Born on December 28, 1937, in Navsari, Gujarat, Ratan Tata became the head of the conglomerate in 1991.
