EPFO members now can update their Aadhaar-linked UAN profiles with personal information without uploading documents. Earlier, members needed approval from their employer to update their profiles, which created a delay by a full 28 days on average.
“Out of the total 8 lakh requests received at EPFO for correction through employers in FY 2024-25, almost 45% of the change requests can be self-approved by the member without employer’s verification or approval at EPFO,” according to a statement.
EPF members can update their profiles with personal information without uploading any documents as long as the UAN is validated through Aadhaar, such as name, date of birth, gender, nationality, father or mother’s name, marital status, spouse name, date of joining, and date of leaving.
Notably, any update on profiles will have to be approved by employers if the UAN was issued prior to October 1, 2017. However, members will have to get their Aadhaar and PAN linked to the EPF account for vetting or withdrawal requests. Any discrepancies between EPF details and Aadhaar will delay approvals. To resolve such discrepancies, it may take a few weeks to process, depending on the length of the employer’s approval time and approval by the EPFO.
The UAN is a 12-digit number that enables the management of your provident fund accounts. To avail of the benefits of the Employment Linked Incentive (ELI) Scheme under the auspices of EPFO, UAN activation and linking a bank account with an Aadhaar are mandatory in nature.
“It is mandatory to seed your Aadhaar with your Bank Account to avail the benefits of the Employment Linked Incentive (ELI) Scheme, an employment-centric scheme focusing on job creation in the country. Do it timely to avoid last-minute hassle!” the official handle of EPFO previously posted on X.
Update of EPF profile step one-visit the Unified Member Portal at EPF official website www.epfindia.gov.in. Go to the member portal and fill the details like UAN number, password, and captcha. Step three- select manage on the top around. Proceed with step four- tap the modify basic details option. The fifth step is to fill our personal details per the Aadha card and submit. The last step- track the uploaded details using the track request option.
