Bank Holiday: Eid-ul-Fitr, which marks the end of Ramadan, is falling on Monday, March 31, this year. Meanwhile, March 31, also marks the last date of the current financial year 2024-25, which is also the deadline for all financial transactions of the current financial year. The RBI’s holiday calendar had initially declared March 31 as a bank holiday on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr. However, in February, the central bank cancelled this holiday as March 31 also marks the last date of the financial year.
Moreover, public and private sector banks in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, are closed on March 28 to observe religious event that mark the end of Ramadan. Notably, March 28 marks the Jumat-ul-Vida, the last Friday of Ramadan. Furthermore, the banks will remain open on March 29, which is the fifth Saturday of the month.
With bank holiday in Jammu and Kashmir, customers are advised to visit their local bank branches for any further query. Notably, Digital banking services, including net banking, will remain available throughout the year, even on holidays when bank branches are closed. Customers can also use online banking, mobile banking apps, UPI, and ATM services, unless maintenance work is scheduled. Additionally, services like opening fixed deposits or recurring deposits may also be accessible on some days.
