A Bihar man who was allegedly involved in several murder cases was nabbed from West Bengal on Saturday. The accused had been absconding for the past one year. He stayed in Gujarat, Maharashtra and a few other states as he sought to evade police arrest.
According to the police, the man, identified as Rohit Yadav, reached Kolkata one and a half months back and was residing in a rented house in the Topsia area. He was living there under a fake identity.
Bihar’s Special Task Force, in a joint operation with the Kolkata Police, traced the man’s whereabouts by tracking his mobile phone. Thereafter, they reached the man’s residence in Kolkata.
He was produced before a lower court in Kolkata on Sunday and was granted a transit remand by the court.
He has been taken to Bihar for further interrogation.
