Yamuna Expressway Speed Limit: In light of the accidents caused due to fog during the winter season, the maximum speed limit for vehicles on the Yamuna Expressway will be reduced to 75 km/hr, effective from December 15 to February 15. Yamuna Expressway has sent an official letter informing about the change in speed limit to the Expressway operating company, according to reports.
The move comes in response to visibility concerns in winter which leads to a surge in accidents involving high-speed vehicles. Reports stated that the company has been directed to install fog lights at entry and exit points of the 165 km long Yamuna Expressway.
The reduction in speed limit is taken as a standard precaution every year for two months. Additionally, to raise driver awareness, authorities take major steps such as putting off instruction boards, and reflective tapes, including broadcast information through public address systems & radio, besides distributing pamphlets. Special arrangements will also be in place during weekends.
A letter was sent to Jaypee Infratech regarding a reduction in the speed limit, Authority’s Chief Executive Officer Dr. Arunvir Singh said.
NOTE: While the maximum speed limit on the Yamuna Expressway from Greater Noida to Agra is 100 km/hr, the visibility decreases in winter.
