Delhi Weather Update: Capital Breathes Cleanest Air In Years; IMD Predicts Rain And Gusty Winds Today
Delhi Weather Update: Delhi witnessed a ‘satisfactory’ AQI in March for the first time in five years since 2020 on Saturday, March 15, 2025. The weather shifted to a pleasant change after light rainfall lashed the city on Friday evening. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported drizzle and Thunderstorms occurring at isolated places with southeasterly winds with speeds less than 20 Kmph during the past 24 hours. The Met Body has predicted very light rain/drizzle with strong surface wind blowing at a speed between 25 to 30 kmph today. The sky will remain partly cloudy on Sunday, with mist likely in the morning.
Delhi Weather Forecast For Next 5 Days
On the 17th of March, IMD predicts a clear sky with mist likely to prevail during the morning hours. Thereafter, on 18th March, partly cloudy skies with the possibility of mist are expected across the city. Strong surface winds will blow at a speed of 25 to 30 kmph during both these days. Meanwhile, the skies will remain partly cloudy on the 19th and 20th of March. Residents will witness a clear sky on the 20th.
According to IMD, a Western Disturbance seen as a cyclonic circulation over north Pakistan and the adjoining Jammu region is likely to affect Northwest India this week. There may be a shift in weather trends as a trough extending from southwest Uttar Pradesh to southwest Rajasthan passes through as the cyclonic circulation over northeast Rajasthan adjoining south Haryana.
The maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded in the range of 31 to 33°C and 18 to 20°C, respectively. At most places in Delhi on Saturday, the minimum temperatures stayed above normal by 2-5°C, and the maximum temperatures by 02-4°C.

An Air Quality Index of 81 under the ‘satisfactory’ category was recorded at 6 am on Sunday, March 16, 2025, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). In light of the pleasant air quality, the CAQM Sub-Committee on GRAP revoked Stage-I of the extant schedule in the entire NCR, with immediate effect on Saturday.
