The Delhi Transport Commission (DTC) is all set to launch the direct electric bus services to the Jewar airport. Delhi government has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with NIA to operate bus services on select routes across the city. This move is set to transform travel experience and benefit commuters once the airport becomes operational. It will provide seamless and affordable journey to passengers boarding flight from Noida airport. Passenger can avoid the reliance on expensive cabs and reach the airport directly.

What Did Delhi Transport minister Say?

TOI quoted Delhi Transport minister Pankaj Kumar Singh who stated that the electric bus services will operate from Sarai Rohilla, Anand Vihar and Kamla Market depots. He said that the frequency of buses and routes will be decided later. Singh further added that the busses will drop the passengers at the airport terminal and not at a location near the airport. The buses will provide direct connectivity. Moreover, women and differently-abled people would be able to travel in these buses without any charge. Women can use the pink-passes to avail free ride. The buses would be introduced on a trial basis first to assess the passenger traffic on daily basis. The frequency will be increased after evaluation for one or two months. The ticket prices would be finalized shortly. Talking about the buses, they will be equipped with air-conditioning, GPS, panic buttons and fire extinguishers all aimed at ensuring the safety of passengers.

DTC, at present runs buses to Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport. It offers services between Delhi and Noida across twelve routes, extending to Electronic City.
