Roorkee-Deoband Rail Line: Good News! Commuters can soon enjoy a quicker, smoother, and hassle-free ride from Delhi to Dehradun. Thanks to the Indian Railways for preparing a new rail line! While many eagerly await the inauguration of the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway, the proposed railway route from Roorkee to Deoband will significantly cut down travel time. The construction work of the Roorkee-Deoband rail line is underway and is expected to be completed soon.

Key Details Of New Roorkee-Deoband Rail Line

This new rail line stretches up to 27 km and is a part of the Moradabad and Delhi Division. According to reports, trains will soon start running on the above-mentioned route, thereby reducing the distance. Meanwhile, the estimated cost of the rail line is reportedly Rs 1047 Crore. The Chief Railway Safety Commissioner (CRS) is expected to conduct an inspection of the railway track today. The new line will be officially approved if the inspection is successful.

New Track To Save Time, Shorten Route

Reports suggest that the new track will shorten the route for several other trains like the Jan Shatabdi Express, cutting the journey time by 1.15 hours. The project, which was first proposed in 2006, will slash the travel distance by 33 km. The railway authorities are currently overseeing all the mandatory construction and safety checks on the Roorkee-Deoband route. A speed trial up to 110 km per hour is also set to be conducted soon.

Project To Have Two New Stations

Two new stations have been built on this route, named Jhabreda and Banhera Khas. However, the Railway Ministry has still not officially notified these two stations. Reports added that the 27-km-long line will have two new stations – Jhabrera and Banhera Khas. With this, the travel distance to Dehradun will be reduced by 33 km.
