Coming Soon! Second Expressway Between Noida And Greater Noida To Pass Through THESE Proposed Sectors – Details Inside News24 –
Noida: With the start of the new financial year, good news has come for Noida commuters. The city will very soon see the development of second expressway between Noida and Greater Noida. The Noida Authority has given in-principle approval to the project at its board meeting last week. Discussion on the needs, design and alignment of the new expressway was held in the meeting. The Noida Authority wishes to build this expressway in collaboration with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). Through this project, the authority aims to decongest the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway as the traffic is expected to increase here after the inauguration of Noida International Airport in Jewar.
What’s The Plan?
For this, the authority has two plans: a 35km eight-lane road parallel to the Yamuna embankment or a 35km six-lane elevated road from the Kalindi Kunj barrage in Delhi to the Yamuna Expressway. The officials have considered the latter as a better option.
Hindustan Times quoted Vijay Rawal, general manager of the Noida authority, who said that they will decide which road to build after the detailed project report (DPR) is finalised. “Once the detailed project report (DPR) is finalised, we will decide whether to make a six-lane elevated road or an eight-lane road,” said Rawal.
Furthermore, Uttar Pradesh chief secretary and Noida authority chairman Manoj Kumar Singh has asked the Noida authority, Greater Noida authority, and Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) to jointly fund the project.
Reason For New Expressway
The new road will increase connectivity with the Yamuna Expressway near Pari Chowk intersection in Greater Noida. This will ease travel for commuters travelling from Delhi to Agra. The continuous industrial, commercial and residential development in Noida, Greater Noida has increased traffic. Lands have been taken up for these activities, further decongesting the existing highways. The opening of Noida Airport is expected to increase the traffic further and push for the need of another alternative. The arrival of commuters from neighbouring cities like Delhi, will also put pressure on the roads connecting Delhi to Noida. The region will require enhanced and faster connectivity once the airport becomes operational. In order to address all these challenges, the Noida Authority is gearing up with new project. Noida, Greater Noida and YEIDA officials will hold the meeting soon regarding the project.
What’s Proposed In The Plan?
According to the reports, the proposed new stretch will extend from Okhla barrage to the Yamuna Expressway via the Hindon-Yamuna doab. Sources mentioned that for the alignment, existing road infrastructure along the Yamuna marginal bund will be taken into consideration.
At present, 11 km, four-lane road exists between Okhla barrage and the irrigation drain. It runs parallel to sectors, including 94, 124, 125, 126, 127, 128, 129, 130, 131, 132, 133, 134, and 135. Moving further, 14km long, Hindon-Yamuna doab bund road runs parallel to sectors like 150, 160, 162, 164, 165 and 167.
Notably, the new expressway will require meticulously planned entry and exit points, loops, and underpasses. Moreover, Sector 168 has been identified as a point for an interchange with Faridabad-Noida-Ghaziabad (FNG) expressway, TOI reported stating sources.
