IMD Issues Yellow Alert For Thunderstorms With Rain, No Heatwave Till April 26- Check Forecast News24 –


Delhi is currently reeling experiencing temperatures in the range of 38-39 degrees Celsius. Partly cloudy skies, light rain, dust-storms and surface winds over the past few days have significantly lowered the temperature. However, humidity levels have increased in the national capital. The present weather conditions have been attributed to various weather systems that are currently active in the northern part of the country. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), there has been no large change in maximum temperatures over Delhi during the past 24 hours. The maximum temperature is currently in the range of 38 to 39°C.

Forecast For Sunday, April 20

Talking about how the weather will remain on Sunday, April 20, the IMD forecast indicates a day with thunderstorm and rain. The maximum temperature is expected to remain 39 degrees Celsius. A yellow alert has been issued for thunderstorm, lightning, and dust storm. The sky will remain partly cloudy, while the maximum humidity level of 60 per cent has been predicted.

The IMD in its daily bulletin, has further predicted a fall by 2-4°C in maximum temperatures during next 48 hours and rise by 2-3°C thereafter over Delhi. This data indicates that there will be a brief period of relief for residents from the scorching heat. However, the weather expected to change in the upcoming week.

Forecast For The Upcoming Week

IMD’s 7 day forecast for Delhi, indicates hot day with maximum temperature in the range of 38-39 degrees Celsius. The sky conditions will remain partly cloudy until April 22 and turn clear after that. Strong surface winds during the day time have been forecast on April 23 and 24. The maximum temperature is expected to reach 40 Degrees Celsius on April 26. No heatwave condition has been forecast until April 26 in the national capital.

Precautionary Measures

Residents are advised to take precautionary measures to protect themselves from the effects of hot weather and increasing humidity. They are advised to stay hydrated, cover themselves when going outdoors, carry umbrellas and include water-rich fruits and vegetables in their diets. They should refrain from engaging in heavy physical activities during the day.
