24-Year-Old Businessman Fatally Shot Near Chhatarpur Metro Station; Police Suspect Personal Enmity News24 –

In a shocking broad daylight incident, a 24-year-old man named Arun Lohia was shot dead near the Chhatarpur Metro Station in South Delhi on Thursday afternoon, sending shockwaves across the national capital.

According to reports, the victim was travelling in a white SUV with his father, Ramveer Lohia, after attending a court hearing related to an ongoing property dispute. At around 1 PM, as their vehicle approached Commander Chowk near Chhatarpur Metro Station, two assailants on a motorcycle intercepted them and opened fire at point-blank range.

Arun was hit by multiple bullets and was immediately rushed to the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS) hospital in Vasant Kunj, but doctors declared him dead. His father, who was in the same vehicle, narrowly escaped unhurt.

Eyewitnesses Recall Chilling Scene

People in the vicinity recalled the terrifying sight. Some bystanders tried to chase the assailants, but they managed to flee. Several rounds were reportedly fired, and the area witnessed a moment of chaos.

Police Investigation and Motive

Police said the attackers knew the victim and may have had a personal enmity against him. Initial investigation suggests that a property-related rivalry may have been the motive. Arun had previously lodged a complaint against one of the suspects, and the families had tried to settle the matter via a village panchayat.

The Delhi Police have registered a case of murder and criminal conspiracy. Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Ankit Chauhan confirmed that special teams have been formed to track down the accused. CCTV footage from surrounding areas is being analysed to identify and apprehend the shooters.

Public Concern Over Safety

The fact that such a brutal killing occurred in a high-footfall area near a metro station in broad daylight has raised serious questions about public safety and police presence. The victim is survived by his wife and two children, and his sudden death has left the community in grief and fear.
