Delhi: Rain is expected to lash the national capital on Tuesday, May 20. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for thunderstorm accompanied by lightning, dust raising winds and strong surface winds today. The change is Delhi’s weather is attributed to active western disturbance and upper air cyclonic circulation over neighbouring states like Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. Over the past week, Delhi has received light rain and thundershowers, leading to slight drop in maximum temperature, which has remained below 45°C. While these weather conditions have brought relief from the scorching heat, the rising levels have made the days uncomfortable for residents.

The weather forecast by the IMD for Tuesday predicts a rainy day. A yellow alert has been issued for thunderstorm and dust storm. Partly cloudy sky with very light to light rain has been predicted over the capital. Gusty winds with speed 30-40 kmph temporarily reaching to 50 kmph during thunderstorm with dust raising winds will prevail in Delhi. The maximum temperature is expected to remain in the range of 40-41°C.

May 24: Partly cloudy sky with very light to light rain/thunderstorm/lightning and gusty winds (speed 30-40 kmph) temporarily reaching to 50 kmph during thunderstorm has been forecast for Saturday. The maximum temperature will remain 39°C.
