Delhi Airport Issues Advisory Following Heavy Overnight Rainfall, Flight Operations Disrupted News24 –


Delhi: The Delhi Airport has issued a passenger advisory at 06:50 am on Sunday following intense overnight rainfall. The advisory states that flight operations at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) are impacted due to adverse weather conditions that struck the capital overnight. Authorities have confirmed disruptions and urged travellers to stay updated on their flight schedules.

The advisory issued by the Delhi Airport reads as: “Due to adverse weather conditions last night, some flights have been impacted. Passengers are advised to check their flight status regularly and stay in touch with airline staff for updates.”

The Airport has assured that on-ground teams are diligently working to minimise inconvenience.

“Our on-ground teams are diligently working with all stakeholders to ensure a seamless and efficient passenger experience,” the advisory added.

Earlier, on Saturday, the airport had issued advisory following IMD’s alert for Delhi. It stated, “Kindly note, as per the Indian Meteorological Department’s forecast, adverse weather conditions are expected in Delhi around 22:30 IST. However, flight operations at Delhi Airport are currently normal.”

Delhi Hit By Rain And Thunderstorms

Notably, heavy rains, thunderstorms, and strong winds lashed national capital and surrounding regions late Sunday night. The rainfall occurred shortly after the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert warning of severe weather conditions. The alert had cautioned about thunderstorms with gusty winds reaching 40–60 km/h.

On Sunday morning, several areas were found to be hit by waterlogging. Visuals showed cars submerged at Minto road and severe flooding at Delhi Airport Terminal 1. Meanwhile, traffic congestion and slow vehicular movement were witnessed at Dhaula Kuan.
