Delhi To Get THESE 3 New Metro Corridors Worth Rs 11,150 Crore- Check Routes And Other Details News24 –

The Centre has earmarked around Rs 11,150 crore for three new metro corridors in Delhi, from R K Ashram to Indraprastha, Aerocity to Terminal-1, and Tughlakabad to Kalindi Kunj, with a combined length of just over 16 km.

The National Planning Group (NPG) has recently reviewed these links as PM GatiShakti for the planning of infrastructure projects is now the policy. These links are anticipated to be submitted to the Cabinet soon.

Details Of R K Ashram To Indraprastha Corridor

As per the proposal submitted before the NPG, the R K Ashram to Indraprastha corridor will be the longest of all three corridors. It will be an underground corridor and have 9 stations including Indraprastha, Bharat Mandapam, Baroda House, India Gate (namely C-Hexagon), newly constructed Common Central Secretariat buildings on Kartavya Path , Central Secretariat, Yuge Yugeen Bharat Museum (near Rakabganj Gurudwara) Shivaji Stadium and R K Ashram Marg.

“So, this will be a complete loop connecting the Green Line (Indralok-Indraprastha link) with the Blue Line, and the Janakpuri West-R K Ashram Marg corridor. This will also help reduce footfall at Rajiv Chowk,” said a source, according to the TOI report.

Officials noted that a station at India Gate will enable users to get there in a safer and easier way, and will reduce private vehicle dependency.
Currently, in order to reach India Gate, visitors either walk or take an auto-rickshaw from the nearest metro station- Central Secretariat.

In addition, the corridor will provide faster access to the proposed 10 major central government office buildings along Kartavya Path with stations at the CCS buildings and Central Secretariat. Commuters will be able to get to their offices promptly and without any hassle.

Moreover, the corridor will give users quicker connectivity to the 10 major central government office buildings located along the Kartavya Path. There will be two stations at the CCS buildings and Central Secretariat for government employees to commute with ease, allowing them to arrive at their offices with time to spare and without rushing to their destination.

There had been prior plans to implement an Automated People Mover System (APMS) to connect all the CCS buildings at the basements. However, this was put aside because the function of the APMS would be exclusively limited to government employees, with no positive impact on the general public.

Aerocity To Terminal-1 Corridor specifics

According to officials, the metro extension line from Aerocity to Terminal-1 (2.3 km long) will be completely underground with one station at Terminal-1. This extension will connect residents of Tughlakabad, Khanpur, Saket, Mehrauli and Vasant Kunj with airport connectivity, improving access to the airport and regional connectivity particularly for persons commuting from Faridabad using the Tughlakabad interchange.

Details Of Tughlakabad To Kalindi Kunj Corridor

The Tughlakabad-Kalindi Kunj link, which is approximately 4 km in length, will consist of three stations and will be an aerial/ elevated corridor. It shall pass through Ali Village, Ali Vihar and Madanpur Khadar. The new link will provide an interchange at Kalindi Kunj with the existing Magenta Line, linking violet and magenta corridors.
