Delhi School Holiday: As Delhi remains under an orange alert following continuous rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms throughout the day, parents and students are concerned about whether all government and private schools will announce school closures due to the bad weather. Several states across India have announced a holiday for Tuesday, September 2 in view of the heavy rain. Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and Uttarakhand have declared the closure of schools for tomorrow.

Are Schools Closed Tomorrow?

Whether schools will remain closed on Tuesday in Delhi remains uncertain, as an official notification is yet to be issued. As of now, the Delhi government has not announced ​​​​any holiday in the region. However, in light of the current situation and adverse weather, the government may announce school closure for tomorrow.

Heavy rain lashed Delhi-NCR on Monday evening, plunging the city into darkness afterward. The monsoon is currently active in most parts of the country including the national capital. Heavy showers brought the city to a standstill, with slow-moving traffic, waterlogging and stranded commuters taking shelter under footbridges.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast, active monsoon conditions are likely to prevail over Delhi during next 5 days. There is possibility of very light to light rain/thundershowers at many places with moderate rain at a few places on September 2. The sky will remain cloudy with maximum temperature in the range of 30-32 degree Celsius.

Gurugram Rain Alert! Online Classes For Schools

Meanwhile, in view of the heavy rains, Gurugram District Disaster Management Authority on Monday issued an advisory. The department has ordered all schools in the district to conduct online classes on Tuesday, September 2, while all corporate offices and private institutions are advised to allow their employees to work from home.

The DDMA, Gurugram stated in its order, “Today, from 3 pm to 7pm, heavy rainfall of over 100 mm has been recorded in Gurugram City. Indian Metrological Department in its forecast has issued Orange Alart: Heavy to very Heavy rainfall for 02-09-2025. In view of the above forecast, all Corporate offices and Private institutions in the district are advised to guide their employees to work from home; and all schools in the district are advised to conduct Online classes on 02-09-2025.”
