Noida News: In a move to boost Noida’s public transport, eight double-decker electric buses were expected to start operating in the city. However, these buses, allocated to Gautam Buddha Nagar by the Uttar Pradesh government, have not yet arrived. It is now being claimed that the buses will reach Noida before Diwali. All these buses were manufactured in Kanpur and sent to Prayagraj during the Kumbh Mela. However, the buses could not undertake the journey of 10 hours and therefore haven’t arrived in the district yet.
What’s Causing The Delay?
In a meeting held in February, it was announced that eight double decker buses would be allocated to Noida. The Morna and Kasna depots have already received 100 new CNG buses. Out of these, 40 buses were allotted to Morna and 60 buses to Kasna depot. The roadways management had asked for double decker buses as the number of passengers were increasing and there were constant complaints too. The main reason for the delay is said to be the lack of sufficient charging points along the route. As a solution, now there are plans to transport the buses to Noida by truck.
All the 8 double decker buses manufactured in Kanpur were sent to Prayagraj in March. They were scheduled to come to Noida by April, but till now they are standing in Prayagraj.
Buses To Run In THESE Areas
These electric busses will run between Botanical Garden Metro Station and Greater Noida West. Out of the eight buses, four will operate between Botanical Garden and Pari Chowk, while the remaining four will in Greater Noida West.
Currently, a large number of private buses operate between Botanical Garden and Pari Chowk. There have been regular complaints by commuters about high fares, lack of designated stops, and frequent overcrowding. These double-decker buses are expected to provide a safer and more reliable option to travellers. Once operational, passengers will get relief and improvement in the transport service Noida is expected. Regional Manager, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Manoj Kumar Singh stated that the buses will reach Noida before Diwali.
