Police Arrest One Accused, Hunt For Two Others Continues News24 –

The police have achieved a major success in the case of the theft of three gold ‘Kalash’ from the historic Red Fort complex in Delhi. The crime branch team has arrested one of the accused involved in this high-profile theft from Hapur in Uttar Pradesh. Raids are being conducted in search of two other accused.

This theft incident took place on September 3 during a religious ritual of the Jain community. Based on CCTV footage, the police identified the accused and traced and caught him. Initial interrogation has revealed that not one, but three gold ‘Kalash’ were stolen, whose total value is said to be more than one crore rupees.

According to media reports, the accused is identified as belonging to the Jain community. The person seen in the CCTV footage was wearing a dhoti and chunni – this dress is usually worn by the people of the Jain community during rituals and worship. This further strengthens the suspicion that the accused is an insider of the community, and he carried out the crime with full planning.

The police have recovered a gold Kalash from the accused, while the search for the other two is on. It is being told that at the time of theft, the accused had taken the urn and the jewellery in a bag.
The Delhi Police team is now conducting continuous raids to catch the remaining two accused and recover the rest of the stolen ‘Kalash’.
