Delhi: A Delhi court on Monday sent the accused driver in the BMW car crash to two days of judicial custody. The accused woman, identified as Gaganpreet Kaur Makkad, allegedly drove the car that killed Finance Ministry official Navjot Singh. Visuals showed her being brought to Tihar Jail late at night after the court’s order.

Duty Magistrate Akanksha Singh sent the 38-year-old woman to police remand after she was produced before the judge at her residence. Gaganpreet, who hails from Gurugram, Haryana, was arrested by Delhi Police on September 16, 2025. During the investigation, Delhi Police stated that Kaur mentioned she was traveling from Gurugram to her house along with her husband, two children (a 6-year-old daughter and a 4-year-old son), and their maid.

While Gaganpreet could not recall how the tragic accident happened, she stated that when the public pulled her out of the vehicle, she saw the deceased and injured on the road. On being asked why she did not rush them to the nearby hospital, Kaur revealed that she was in a state of panic and only knew of this hospital as her children were admitted there during COVID-19.
