Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta took a new step towards education reform on Thursday in Delhi by launching three new education schemes, NEEEV, Science of Living, and Rashtraneeti. These initiatives aim to equip students with modern skills and instill a sense of responsible citizenship.
The event, held at Bharat Mandapam, was attended by Education Minister Ashish Sood, Directorate of Education (DoE) officials, and hundreds of teachers. These schemes replace the previous major educational initiatives, Business Blasters, Happiness Curriculum, and Mission Buniyaad, that were discontinued by the BJP government earlier this year.
In her address, the Chief Minister reiterated that there should be no distinction between government and private schools. Hindustan Times quoted, Rekha Gupta saying, “Your qualifications are no less than private school teachers. The only difference is in energy,” and urged teachers to innovate and maintain their energy.
Emphasizing the need to support students in Classes 9 and 11 instead of expelling them, she said, “Results won’t improve if children are expelled in Classes 9 and 11. Instead, they should be encouraged and supported.”
Rekha Gupta explained that the objectives of these three programs are different, NEEEV (New Era of Entrepreneurial Ecosystem and Vision) aims to create job creators, not job seekers. Science of Living focuses on holistic personality development, while Rashtraneeti aims to create aware and civilized citizens. She also said, “One flyover less can be built, but schools must be improved.”
Hindustan Times quoted, Education Minister Ashish Sood saying, “Students who come to school in uniform are not just students for me; they are future prime ministers, scholars, scientists, doctors, and teachers.” He also added that a country’s true strength lies in the character of its citizens and appealed to teachers to make these programs successful. This initiative marks a new direction for Delhi’s education system.
