Two Rescued, Several Feared Trapped After Two-Storey Building Collapses In Uttam Nagar; NDRF Rushes To Spot News24 –


In a heartbreaking event, a two-story building collapsed on Friday afternoon in the area near Holi Chowk, Azad Dairy in Uttam Nagar of Delhi, creating chaos among nearby people. It is being said that several individuals are stuck under the debris.

People from around the area who were witnessing the incident rushed to help and called the police and fire brigade. The fire brigade, police, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and other relief organizations came to the scene shortly afterwards and began recovering individuals trapped in the debris of the building.

The work began with recovering debris from the building. Shortly into the work, rescuers extricated a 12-year-old girl and a woman. Both were taken to a hospital nearby.

As per a fire department officer, the minor injuries were sustained by the girl, while the woman was unconscious and was receiving treatment in a medical facility.

At the same time, the search was on to rescue other people who were trapped in the rubble. Fire officials provided the details of the incident after receiving a call about it at approximately 3:10 p.m. Friday, at which time five fire units were eventually sent to the scene.

Upon hearing the loud noise of the house as it collapsed, people from the nearby area arrived on the scene and began to remove the debris. In no time, a crowd of several hundred people was seen on the street.

The police arrived at the scene to evacuate people and cordoned off the area. Firefighters with members of the NDRF, ambulances, and members of civic agencies also arrived at the scene of the incident and began to remove the debris right away.

Fire Department ADO Santosh said, “The fire department team rescued a 12-year-old girl and a woman from the debris. The girl suffered minor injuries, while the woman was unconscious. Both were immediately admitted to a nearby hospital. Removal work is ongoing, as there may be other people trapped under the debris.”
