Delhi NCR News: In a major boost to Delhi-NCR’s road infrastructure, a new 30-kilometre expressway connecting Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida, and the upcoming Noida International Airport is set to be built. The expressway will run parallel to the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway and the Yamuna Expressway, improving connectivity and providing an alternative route to commuters to reach Delhi via Noida.
About Delhi-Noida-Greater Noida Expressway
Once completed and operational, the expressway will significantly reduce traffic congestion and improve regional connectivity. It will link Pushta Road with both the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway and the Yamuna Expressway. The purpose of this new expressway is to provide a direct and faster link from Delhi and Noida to the Jewar Airport in Uttar Pradesh.
This expressway will also decongest the current Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, which handles a high volume of traffic, thereby providing a faster access to the Noida Airport. The project will reduce travel times, boost economic activity, and promote the growth of the NCR region.
The highway has been specifically promoted by Gautam Buddha Nagar MP Mahesh Sharma and supported by Union Road and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari. Earlier, reacting to the proposal by MP Sharma, Gadkari stated that the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) would “seriously consider” it and assured that there would be no shortage of funds. Meanwhile, Sharma asserted, “To fully leverage Jewar Airport’s potential, building a direct and efficient road link is not just necessary, it’s urgent.”
It has been approved by the cabinet and further planning is underway regarding its construction. According to reports, this expressway is expected to include rotaries and interchanges for smooth connectivity with existing routes like the FNG expressway.
How will it benefit Delhi-Greater Noida commuters?
Once completed, the new expressway is expected to cut travel time between Delhi and Greater Noida, from the current two hours to just 30 minutes. This will offer commuters a faster and smoother journey, enhancing their travel experience. Reportedly, the project is part of the ongoing Rs 1.20 lakh crore NCR development initiatives, with an additional Rs 40,000–50,000 crore in investments planned.
