Three hours, three clues – Key angles under scrutiny News24 –

Delhi Car Blast: Delhi Police and security agencies have narrowed their investigation into Monday evening’s car blast near the Red Fort to three key areas. Sources familiar with the matter on Tuesday stated that the police are focusing on the suspect’s movements, the suspected network linked to a university in Faridabad, and the type of explosive used in the attack.

Delhi Car Blast: Key angles under scrutiny

ANI, quoting sources, reported that the Delhi Police’s most critical line of investigation focuses on the three-hour window during which Dr. Umar, allegedly driving the i20 car involved in the blast, parked his vehicle in the Red Fort parking area. Investigators are also trying to establish what the suspect was doing between 3:19 pm and 6:22 pm. They are focusing on whether Dr Umar stayed near the vehicle, met someone, or conducted a recce of the area, in relation to the Hyundai i20.

The officials are also investigating whether the suspect was waiting for the peak-hour crowd to gather on roads before the blast. Reportedly, the suspect arrived at the parking lot around 3:19 pm and left at 6:22 pm. Focusing on this information, police are analysing whether he communicated with anyone during this time or received instructions from another suspect/ person.

Three hours
Another angle that is being taken into consideration, is why he chose to remain in a high-security zone for nearly three hours. This indicates a possibility that the suspect was awaiting logistical assistance or a signal from a sleeper cell.

Faridabad terror module
The second aspect of the investigation into the blast case revolves around the recently busted terror module in Faridabad including doctors. Several names of doctors from a university in Faridabad, have surfaced during the probe. Police are further investigating the number of active and inactive members linked to this suspected network, which is believed to have sleeper cell connections that were operational.

Origin of weapons
The third aspect revolves around investigating the origin of the weapons and explosives recovered from Faridabad operation. Officials are determining whether they arrived in separate consignments, and who facilitated their delivery. ANI added that officials are also tracing other members of the Telegram group, reportedly used for communication, to examine how long it has been active and who managed it.
