Several international flights from Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (Terminal 3) to destinations including Hong Kong, Dubai, Jeddah, Helsinki, Kabul, and Frankfurt have been delayed due to a volcanic ash cloud originating from Ethiopia. Flight operations of Airlines including Air India, IndiGo, SpiceJet have been affected due to the volcanic ash cloud that has entered Delhi, causing dark sky and obstructing flight movement.
The ash plume, carried by high-altitude winds, has disrupted air traffic across Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Delhi-NCR and Punjab. Akasa Air, IndiGo and KLM airlines have cancelled several operations in response to the ash cloud’s spread.

Akasa Air cancels flights
Akasa Air has cancelled its international flights to and from Jeddah, Kuwait and Abu Dhabi for November 25. The airline stated that the ash has created unsafe flying conditions across affected routes. “Following recent volcanic activity in Ethiopia and the resulting ash plume in the surrounding airspace, our flights to and from Jeddah, Kuwait, and Abu Dhabi scheduled for 24th and 25th November 2025 have been cancelled,” an Akasa Air spokesperson said, as reported by ANI.

IndiGo flight diverted
IndiGo said it was working with international aviation bodies to minimise inconvenience to passengers. As a precautionary measure, its Kannur-Abu Dhabi flight (6E1433) was diverted to Ahmedabad when the ash drifted closer to Indian airspace.
