Delhi Pollution: AQI hits 332, city braces for another week of ‘very poor’ air


Delhi AQI: Delhi continues to remain in the ‘very poor’ category on Saturday morning, showing a slight improvement from the previous reading. Amid worsening weather conditions, the Air Quality Index (AQI) declined to 332 at 10 am, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). The national capital region has been enduring toxic pollution levels post Diwali.

AQI Readings In Other Areas Of Delhi Today

Wazirpur registered an AQI of 216 under the ‘poor’ category this morning, while the air quality plummeted to 194 in Sonia Vihar. ‘Poor’ AQI of 187 was recorded in the Chandni Chowk area at 9 am.

AQI plunged to 230 in Jahangirpuri, while nsit Dwarka recorded an air quality index of 170 at 9 am on November 29. The other areas include Rohini (261), Bawana (247), Vivek Vihar (197), Patparganj (201), Nehru Nagar (283), Siri Fort (251), Okhla Phase 2 (217), Lodhi Road 2 (198), Najafgarh (228), and Sri Aurobindo Marg (228).

Delhi Rain Forecast

The AQI is unlikely to improve anytime soon in Delhi-NCR as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast no rain for the next seven days. Shallow to moderate fog is most likely to engulf the city during the early morning hours. On Saturday morning, the area around Akshardham Temple was shrouded by a layer of toxic smog as the AQI dipped to 350 under the ‘Very Poor’ category. Areas such as the Anand Vihar area witnessed reduced visibility, sparking health concerns among residents.

In view of the slight improvement of AQI levels, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has revoked Stage III measures of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) in Delhi-NCR with immediate effect.

Delhi AQI: Check Forecast For Next Two Days

According to the Air Quality Early Warning System for Delhi, the air quality will likely be in the ‘very poor’ category until December 1, 2025. The outlook for the subsequent 6 Days shows the AQI in the ‘very poor’ category.
