Greater Noida BTech Student Dies in Hostel Tragedy

Greater Noida witnessed a heartbreaking incident early Saturday when a second-year BTech student allegedly jumped from the fourth floor of his hostel in the Knowledge Park area. Authorities confirmed that the student, identified as Udit Soni from Jhansi district, was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Incident Stemmed from Alcohol Consumption

According to Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Greater Noida) Sudhir Kumar, the events leading up to the tragedy began on Friday night. Udit had returned to his hostel in Knowledge Park 3 accompanied by two friends, Chetan and Kuldeep, after consuming alcohol.

The hostel management reportedly reprimanded Udit for his behaviour and shared a video of the incident with his father, Vijay Soni. Following the video, Vijay called his son, scolding him and threatening to bring him home from the hostel.

Distressed by the confrontation, Udit allegedly jumped from the hostel’s fourth floor. Police confirmed that he was immediately transported to the hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.

Investigation Underway

Police stated that Udit’s family is present at the site, and the body has been sent for post-mortem after completing the necessary legal procedures. Two individuals have been taken into custody, and authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident.
