Injured 12-year-old boy’s video sent to mother before his death

A 12-year-old boy was found dead in Delhi’s Shastri Nagar after sustaining grievous injuries. Delhi Police suspect that his stepfather is behind the chilling case.

According to PTI, a relative of the victim said that the boy’s mother received a video call on the morning of January 30, showing her son in an injured condition. The woman fainted after seeing the video footage.

Police received a complaint about the boy at 9:50 am and rushed to the spot, where the boy, a Class 7 student, was found unconscious with grievous injuries. The boy was taken to Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Police said that the boy had sustained injuries to his head and eyes, prompting a detailed forensic probe.

Police said that the boy and his brother were dropped off by his stepfather, identified as Wajid Khan, at 6:30 pm at their residence. The boy later went out to play but did not return home. Wajid is an e-rickshaw driver and is currently on the run.

The victim is survived by his mother, sister, and two brothers. The boy’s mother had married Wajid Khan after her first husband died due to jaundice in 2019. Initially, Wajid was fine with the children, but he later started developing resentment towards them.

“A case under Section 103(1) (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita has been registered at the Shastri Park police station,” PTI quoted a senior police officer as saying.
