Anees Bazmee Reveals Why Bhool Bhulaiyaa Without Akshay Kumar Was A Tough Call

Kartik Aaryan starrer Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 is set to release in theatres on November 1 – Diwali, and will see Vidya Balan returning to play the role of Manjulika. Joining them are Madhuri Dixit and Tripti Dimri in fresh roles. Despite a stellar cast, fans are missing Akshay Kumar in the film, who played a memorable role in the first instalment of the franchise.

Ahead of the release, director Anees Bazmee, who has revived him horror-comedy universe in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, talks about Akshay’s presence in the film. He said, Akshay is one of those actors he is really close to, so much so, that he can ask him to join the movie whenever he wants. During his interview with News18, Anees said, “I know that I can reach out to him anytime. I don’t even need to think twice before doing that. I’ve a lot of love for him. Mujhe lagta hai ki mera ek haq hai unpe. I know that I can insist and coax him to play a character in my films. Bahot kam log hai jinke upar main aisa haq jata sakta hoon. That’s the kind of relationship I’ve with him. And if a character or a cameo suits him, he’ll do it for sure.”

When Anees decided to make Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, he recalls how it was a difficult decision to make. “Akshay ji was so good in Bhool Bhulaiyaa that the thought of having a sequel without him was tough. But we made Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 with a lot of earnestness and heart with the resources available at hand. Once it released, people liked Kartik as much as they had liked Akshay ji.”

That being said, Anees wants to work with Akshay soon. “I want to work with him again and again. He’s a very special person for me,” he ended.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 will hit the screens with Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again. While the Kartik Aaryan-starrer is creating buzz because of Vidya Balan, Singham Again will see Salman Khan making a cameo. Only the time will tell which film will overshadow the other.
