Shilpa Shetty’s Lawyer Says Actress Has Nothing To Do With ED Raids; Claims Raj Kundra Is ‘Cooperating With Investigation’
Raj Kundra made the headlines recently after his house was reportedly raided in connection to the alleged money laundering case. The lawyer of Shilpa Shetty, popular actress and Raj Kundra’s wife, has issued an official statement in which he called these reports misleading. The statement added that the actress has nothing to do with the case and revealed that Raj Kundra is also cooperating with the investigation.
In a statement, Shilpa Shetty’s lawyer Prashant Patil revealed, “There have been reports in the media saying that my client Mrs Shilpa Shetty Kundra has been raided by the Enforcement Directorate. These reports are not true and are misleading. There is no Enforcement Directorate raid on Mrs Shilpa Shetty Kundra as she has nothing to do with any offence of whatsoever nature.”
“However, the case in question is an ongoing investigation regarding Mr Raj Kundra and he is cooperating with the investigation for truth to come out,” he added.
The statement concluded, “Would request the electronic and print media to refrain from using the videos, pictures and name of Mrs Shilpa Shetty Kundra as she has nothing to do with the case. Strict cognisance shall be taken against irresponsible journalism wherein the pictures or videos of Mrs Shilpa Shetty Kundra are shared on this matter.”
Raj Kundra was linked to the alleged porn production, which lead to an investigation by the Mumbai Police in 2021. He was arrested in July 2021 by the Mumbai Crime Branch under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Information Technology Act.
In an earlier interview, he talked about his time in jail and shared how it was for him. He said, as quoted by The Indian Express, “It’s humiliating because they strip you down completely in front of everyone. They check your bum to see if you are carrying any narcotics. So, you feel like you have lost all your dignity. You feel like you have gone through so much and now here also they are stripping you down. Media was already doing that and now this also happened. I felt disheartened and hurt. You don’t get proper food or sleep, and people were talking lecherously about me and Shilpa.”
He added, “I don’t know why I was not put in the barracks where the so-called celebrities are put. I was put in a common barrack. I have no qualms about that. You don’t get a VIP status when you stay in the celebrity barracks. It’s just that five people live there vs the common barracks where 250 people were living in a place meant only for 50 people.”
