L2: Empuraan OTT Release
According to M9 News, L2: Empuraan will release on JioHotstar after its run in theatres. There is no confirmation regarding these reports from the makers.
Apart from starring in ‘L2: Empuraan’, Prithviraj Sukumaran is also the director of the film. The movie clashed with Salman Khan-starrer Sikandar but has been performing well in theatres.
Earlier, he talked about the box office clash of his movie with Sikandar. Calling Salman Khan ‘one of the biggest stars of the country’, Prithviraj said that he is rooting for both the films and said there is no competition between them. During the press conference, he shared, “Salman Khan is one of the biggest stars in the country, and there is no competition between the two movies. I hope it becomes a blockbuster. I will have no complaints if you watch L2: Empuraan at 11 a.m. and Sikandar at 1 p.m.”
The movie also stars Abhimanyu Singh, Tovino Thomas, Manju Warrier, Jerome Flynn, Indrajith Sukumaran, Eriq Ebouaney, and Suraj Venjaramoodu. It is the sequel to the hit 2019 Malayalam movie ‘Lucifer’.
The movie also got into controversy after it received backlash for allegedly portraying the Gujarat riots in a manner that a particular section was the only responsible. Many scenes were edited and cut after the backlash.
Mohanlal later issued statement on Facebook after this controversy and assured fans that none of his film promote hatred towards any political movement. He wrote, “I have come to know that some of the political and social scene in L2: Empuraan, have caused great issues to many of my loved ones. As an artiste, it is my duty to ensure that none of my films promote hatred towards any political movement, ideology or sect.”
“Therefore, the Empuraan team and I are deeply sorry for the issue caused. Understanding that the responsibility lies with all of us behind the film, we have decided to remove such content from the movie,” he further added.
“I have lived my film career as one of you for the last four decades. Your love and faith are my only strength. There is no Mohanlal beyond that… With love, Mohanlal,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, L3 was also announced at the end of L2: Empuraan.
