Bollywood megastar Salman Khan could be spotted wearing the uniform of an Indian Army officer in an action war drama with high stakes in the near future. According to a Bollywood Hungama report, the movie will be based on the 2020 Galwan Valley conflict between Indian and Chinese soldiers which was a face-off that made national headlines and is one of the more recent sad chapters in the history of Indian forces.
Collaboration with Apoorva Lakhia
The intended movie is likely to be directed by director Apoorva Lakhia who is popularly known for directing the gritty action drama Shootout at Lokhandwala with Vivek Oberoi. The director had reportedly approached Salman Khan via producer Jordy Patel. According to the source, “Jordy Patel introduced Salman Khan to Apoorva Lakhia, and that’s when the duo jammed over a script. Apoorva had acquired the rights to novel India’s Most Fearless 3 a while back and discussed the idea with Salman. He loved the thought of this novel and is contemplating on signing on for the film.”
Inspired By Real-Life Heroism
The film is reported to have been based on India’s Most Fearless 3, the bestseller by journalists Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh. The book contains first-hand stories of Indian soldiers’ courage, with a special chapter on the Galwan Valley conflict, which seems to have particularly touched Salman. The actor’s inclination to play an army officer in such a narrative marks a big change in his film career, perhaps bringing a new aspect to his action-packed entertainers and larger-than-life characters-dominated filmography.
Future Plans
The source also revealed Salman’s future plans and said “Salman is excited by the thought of playing an army officer in a film set against the backdrop of the Galwan Valley battle of 2020. He is seriously considering this as a follow up to Sikandar and if all goes well, the film will go on floors in 2nd half of 2025.”
