Yesterday, the Instagram accounts of several popular Pakistani actors were banned in India. Stars like Hania Aamir and Mahira Khan had their accounts restricted, but interestingly, some Pakistani celebrities’ Instagram profiles are still visible, including those of Fawad Khan and Wahaj Ali.

The main reason behind banning the accounts of Pakistani celebs was the rising tensions between India and Pakistan after the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam.

Fawad Khan, who became very popular in India after starring in the Bollywood films Khoobsurat (2014) and Kapoor & Sons (2016). These movies had a special place in the hearts of Indian fans. Despite the political climate and the bans on Pakistani entertainment content, Fawad Khan’s Instagram account remains active and visible to users in India.

A few days ago, India banned the movie Abir Gulaal because it starred the popular Pakistani actor Fawad Khan. Following India’s decision, Pakistan has also banned the movie in response.

Similarly, Wahaj Ali, a rising star in the Pakistani drama industry, has also managed to maintain his presence in India. Known for his roles in popular television dramas like Tere Bin and Mujhe Pyaar Hua Tha. Wahaj Ali has attracted a significant fan following not only in Pakistan but also in India.

Interestingly, despite the ongoing tension between India and Pakistan, Wahaj Ali’s account has not faced any of the same restrictions as other celebrities from Pakistan.

Reason Behind Not Banning Their Accounts

The reason behind why Fawad Khan, Wahaj Ali and few more Instagram accounts have not been banned, despite the growing political tensions, remains unclear. While several other Pakistani celebrities have faced restrictions, the exact factors that have allowed their accounts to remain visible in India are still unknown.

Pakistani Accounts That are banned

Pakistani stars who are also not visible on Instagram in India include Ali Zafar, Sanam Saeed, Bilal Abbas, Iqra Aziz, Imran Abbas, Hania Aamir, Mahira Khan and Sajal Aly.

When fans of these Pakistani celebrities tried to open their Instagram profiles, they saw the same message, “Account not available in India“. This is because we followed a legal request to block this content.”

India has also blocked 16 Pakistani YouTube Channels

India has also blocked 16 YouTube channels from Pakistan. According to government sources, these channels were banned for sharing content that could create tension between communities and for spreading false stories about India, its Army, and security forces.
