Ramayana is making its first significant move, as the film has been officially certified by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana will be released in two parts. While the first part will be released in Diwali 2026, the second one will hit the theatres in 2027 in Diwali.
According to the reports by Pinkvilla, the name of the title is TITLE ANNOUNCEMENT – RAMAYANA 3D, which has a video duration of 2 minutes and 36 seconds. The title video has been granted a U certificate by the Mumbai regional office on May 5, 2025. Ramayana is produced by Namit Malhotra, who is also a business executive.
The title announcement certification is hinting that Ramayana will soon start its promotions. The film is making waves among the audience and the people are excited about it. Even though the video has not yet been released, the fans are already interested in the project. The film will have a grand cast, even though it is not officially revealed by the Ramayana team. However, Ranbir Kapoor will reportedly be seen in the role of Lord Ram, actress Sai Pallavi will appear as Goddess Sita, KGF-famed Yash will portray the character of Ravana and Sunny Deol will reportedly star as Lord Hanuman.
During an interview with Hollywood Reporter India, Yash said that Ravana is one of the “most fascinating” roles he could play, the statement confirmed his presence in the film as the antagonist. Later, he also confirmed about co-producing the film when he said, “There’s vast scope to present it in a very different way.”
In 2024, producer Namit Malhotra shared a post where he officially announced the film, Ramayana. He penned down a heartfelt note in which he wrote, “More than a decade ago, I embarked on a noble quest to bring this epic that has ruled billions of hearts for over 5000 years to the big screen. And today, I am thrilled to see it taking shape beautifully as our teams work tirelessly with only one purpose: to present the most authentic, sacred, and visually stunning adaptation of our history, our truth, and our culture – our “RAMAYANA”– for people across the world.” He concluded, saying, “Join us as we fulfill our dream of bringing our greatest epic to life with pride and reverence.”
The certification details suggest that the audience will soon witness the first look of the film as things are gearing up. The film is based on the ancient Indian epic saga of Ramayana, which has been portrayed in films and TV shows before as well.
