Govt. Orders Indian OTT Platforms To Discontinue Pakistani Songs, Web Series, Movies, Podcasts And Other Content
In a major move, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has directed all OTT platforms and digital streaming services operating in India to immediately halt the distribution Pakistani content. The decision comes in the wake of political tensions and a recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22, 2025, which claimed the lives of several Indian and one Nepali citizen.
In an advisory shared by ANI, instructs platforms to discontinue all forms of Pakistani content including web series, films, music, podcasts, and other streaming media whether offered on a subscription basis or free.
“In the interest of national security, all OTT platforms, media streaming platforms and intermediaries operating in India are advised to discontinue the web-series, films, songs, podcasts and other streaming media content, whether made available on a subscription based model or otherwise, having its origins in Pakistan with immediate effect,” read the notice.

India first banned Fawad Khan’s upcoming film ‘Abir Gulaal’, then restricted Pakistani YouTube content and television dramas. Film Federations in India openly opposed the release of the film and have also warned the makers of taking action against them.
