After Sikandar Misses The Mark, Salman Khan To Gear Up For Galwan War Drama With Apoorva Lakhia: Report
After the underwhelming performance of Sikandar at the box office, Bollywood superstar Salman Khan is reportedly gearing up for a war drama based on the 2020 Galwan Valley clash, which one of the most intense and widely discussed military conflicts between India and China.
According to a report by Mid-Day, the project which is untitled for now, will be directed by “Shootout at Lokhandwala” filmmaker Apoorva Lakhia and is being developed under Salman Khan Films. It is also reportedly expected to go on floors within the next five months with a potential Republic Day 2026 release and scenes to be filmed on location in Ladakh to capture the realism of the intense border conflict between Indian and Chinese forces.
This decision appears to have sidelined the much anticipated “Bajrangi Bhaijaan” sequel, which was earliear considered a priority project for the actor. The sequel was expected to reunite Salman with director Kabir Khan which now seems to have stalled in the scripting phase.
A source told The Hollywood Reporter, Salman was offered several scripts after Sikandar, but he was deeply moved by the Galwan Valley concept.
Salman was last seen in Sikandar, an action drama film which was directed by A. R. Murugadoss and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala. Also starring Rashmika Mandanna, Sathyaraj, Kajal Aggarwal, Sharman Joshi, Prateik Babbar, Kishore, Jatin Sarna and Sanjay Kapoor. Salman Khan plays the titular role as Sanjay “Sikandar” Rajkot who is hunted by a politician seeking revenge for a family tragedy. Though the film was a commercial failure, it concluded the theatrical run with an estimated worldwide gross of ₹184.89 crores.
